Welcome to Canopy Japan LLC

Mission

Focusing on Japan and Asia, Canopy Japan LLC was founded for the purpose of providing accessible tools to bring people together for the common goal of reducing the negative impacts of human activities on our climate, and our planetary systems.

We believe the first step is a fact based understanding of our climate. Recognizing that we all come from different backgrounds, we believe that to achieve a base to work from there needs to be a platform that makes climate information fun and interesting.

A lay population seems to see complex climate data as TL;DR. So while scientific analysis is a key to understanding the reasons behind the climate problem. Communicating the strategy for remediation and progress is a wholly different problem. We here at Canopy Japan and Canopy Publishing US believe fostering fact-based conversations, outside the academic environment, will lead to positive change. Discussions by an engaged—and informed—public stimulates interest and supports action on the climate crisis.

The climate change problem is not a scientific debate anymore. It is sociological problem of developing the public will to meet, address, and solve the problem.

Vision

The development of these climate discussions among the public, without direction from us, or anyone else, will allow the political will to develop in an organic, positive fashion—so long as the information the public is working with contains the insights people need to see when spin meisters are showing almost information at them. It is this kind of awareness that is central to making progress.

Our sister company, Canopy Publishing US has been working the climate change information (and disinformation) issue since the late 1990s. Through their books, websites, speeches, consultations, blogs like Climatebull, and other venues, Canopy Publishing has brought that knowledge forward and is now expanding it though the use of Short Form Videos produced by Canopy Japan LLC's subsidiary Canopy Studios - Japan.

These videos will be circulated in Asia by Canopy Japan LLC and in the Americas, Europe and Africa by Canopy Publishing US.

Our Goals

Canopy Japan is an independent Japanese Company founded in 2025 and located on the beautiful island of Okinawa. Canopy Japan LLC's purpose is to produce and distribute understandable—and fun— videos on the climate.

In addition Canopy Japan LLC will distribute print books, e-books, and audio books in Japan and the rest of Asia. Initially the books will be in English. Versions of the books will eventually be distributed in Japanese with the first versions being audio-books sometime later in 2025 or early 2026.

In all, our work centers on guiding a rational dialogue among the public to build the political will to meet head on the challenges of climate change that we face in Japan.
